Sixxem Sporting Dogs
Sixxem Kennels started as a small kennel located in the high plains desert of Southern Colorado. Our passion for pointing dogs began in California in the early 90's when we hunted behind a friends dog. We began raising and training German Shorthaired Pointers in the late 90's. We compete in AKC events and NSTRA field trials. We also hunt our dogs in Colorado, Kansas, Texas, and South Dakota on wild birds every year. We strive to produce dogs that are of the highest quality through well thought out, planned breeding and proven breeding stock. All our dogs come from Field Trial lineage and Field Champions and Hall of Fame dogs aren't too far back in the pedigree.
We almost always have pups and started dogs available. Pups and started dogs are worked regularly on quail and pigeons from the time they start running around. They are well socialized, have traveled in a trailer, staked out, and checkcorded. Prices vary depending on the dog, age, breeding, natural ability, and level of training. If we don't have something that fits your needs, email us and thru our many contacts around the U.S., we'll help you find a suitable dog.
We are now training on over 2000 acres of prime country in Fowler, Colorado. This facility has given us some of the best training grounds anywhere! Whether it's a well mannered hunting companion or a field trial competitor that your after, these grounds are well suited to develop your dog to their fullest potential. These training ground are perfect to train your foot hunting dog in real hunting scenarios. The endless treelines and objectives, coupled with the pre-release "Surrogator" raised quail is perfect for that big running field trial dog, or that bigger running Texas "truck" dog. We have developed a 2 mile continues walking Shooting Dog course that is perfect for AKC Field Trial development and AKC Hunt Test development. We also have two 40 acre NSTRA fields that are used to develop well rounded NSTRA competition dogs. Whether your hunting on foot, or you are competing in an event, when you hit the field, your dog will be prepared for success....we guarantee it!
To compliment our training program, in the fall of 2009 we are headed to Montana for a week long training trip. This will be on wild birds only and it's a great opportunity to get a young dog into large numbers of birds, or polish out that seasoned dog. We are taking a very limited number of dogs and reservations are required. Contact us for more info.
We train with proven, humane methods that get results! We have many references available.
